I just moved to Jersey City a few months ago from Brooklyn, and decorating/furnishing the apartment has been a miniature project! I tried to keep it affordable and found some cute things at IKEA and on Facebook Marketplace, but it was a hassle to schedule time and pick things up from all different locations. I also didn’t want it to look like a mismatched IKEA showroom, so I started to look elsewhere.
After securing side tables, a bar cart, and a coat rack off Facebook, I decided to give convenience (and free shipping) a chance, so I started looking on Amazon. You have to look through a lot of junk, but I was pleasantly surprised to find decent things!
I’m pretty happy with most of the purchases I made and thought I would share them in case anyone is looking for cheap bedframe, side table, full length mirror, or comforter.
- Modern Grey Bedframe ($170+)
- White Bedside Table ($40)
- Floor Length Rose Gold Mirror ($120)
- Felt Letter Board ($30)
- Equinox All-Season White Quilted Comforter ($30)
It took me a while to decide on a bed frame. I loved the look of the mid-century wood frames from West Elm, but I didn’t think it fit with my carpeted bedroom. I went for this modern look instead, and it turned out to be pretty cute.
It was really easy to build and has held up well so far.
I’ll be honest, you get what you pay for with this one. It’s kind of short, and looks like it’s from IKEA. It still goes nicely with the bedframe, so I’ll take it!
I know, $120 for a mirror isn’t really budget friendly. But – I wanted a jumbo floor length mirror to put in the corner of my bedroom, and was having trouble finding one under $300. I wanted to find something like this West Elm mirror which I loved, but it was just too much! I finally found this one and its sooo nice – the rose gold is more of a pink color, but it’s huge and goes perfectly in the corner of my room.
I had no intention of buying a felt board but my friend started a felt board business and I wanted to support! It’s actually perfect for our faux fireplace. I write messages when people visit which is a crowd pleaser.
I previously bought a comforter from Home Goods and I HATED it, so I went on a search for a new comforter. It was the middle of the summer but I found this one on Amazon with the best reviews and found this for $19.99! Now it’s $30 (wtf) but that’s still a great price because It’s really a perfect comforter. It feels soft and warm without being too scratchy or heavy. It said “all seasons” so we’ll see how it holds up in the winter. Still mad at that Home Goods comforter and myself for throwing out the receipt.
