Even though my page is pretty sparse right now, I’ve actually been blogging for over 12 years. I started in middle school with my Xanga page (which I truly wish I didn’t delete because I would DIE to read the nonsense I shared with the internet back then), followed by even more Xanga pages, a wordpress site in college, then a blogger page, and then a short-lived version of “fionaellen.com” when I first graduated in college. The blogging thing has always been kind of a creative outlet for me, just writing down my thoughts and sharing things that I like. I’ve since deleted all of my accounts on those sites, but truly wish I didn’t so I could look back at them.

It took me a while to finally take the plunge and start this. I kept thinking… why bother? Every has a blog now, and there are SO many bloggers out there right now with amazing content, that take better pictures than I ever could, and I honestly felt a little embarrassed. After dwelling on it a bit more and spending most of free time worrying about what I COULD/SHOULD be doing with my free time, I finally realized, who cares? I’m not competing with people! So I called up Kate, and she designed this site for me (thanks Kate!).

That being said, I’m really going to try to update this site consistently. Each time I started a blog I would stop updating it, then feel disappointed in myself for not keeping up with it. To be fair, work has always taken up a lot of my time. I’m fortunate to have a decent work/life balance right now and even if I feel drained after a long day, I think I will actually look forward to writing.

I’m still trying to figure out what exactly this blog will be about, but for now I’m thinking travel, beauty, NYC/Jersey City…and whatever comes to mind. Maybe some PR career tips too.
